Taxes, taxes everywhere, and not a dime to pay!

Needless to say, this is disconcerting. I believe in taxation to support government programs, the social safety net, and all the other things that make our country much better than many others who leave their poor to fend for themselves.

Of course, this doesn't make it any easier when my $35 tax program tells me I owe a bunch of money to the government!

So, like any loyal, red-blooded small “L” liberal, I did my duty to the country and those bloodsuckers at Revenue Canada… I went to the bank and obtained a registered retirement savings plan loan to put more money into my plan and write it off against my income! -)

After a bit of travel, paperwork, and delivery of the cheque to my investment broker uptown, I am now a few thousand $$$ worth of investments richer and a couple of hundred $$$ per month poorer… -)

I may be a small “L” liberal, but I am a firm believer in the flat tax system, where everyone pays a set percentage of their income and none of these foolish calculations need to be done every year. The country would save a fortune in civil servant salaries at Revenue Canada, and we would all be spared the hassle of trying to figure out their overly complicated forms… But that is a rant for another day!>
